With the winter looming large and the Summer becoming a distant memory I think its time I started to put in some thought into a winter getaway. Its not much fun facing into these months without something tangible to look forward to.  On the bad days I can remind myself and the family that in a short distance of time we will be flying to Geneva Airport for a skiing trip. My wife and I are reasonably OK skiers having gone on trips in the past a few times.

Our two children have never been though so we will need to look into some decent ski school to enrol them in to get them started. I think its vitally important that they are taught well from an early stage if its to be something they enjoy in the future. There are plenty of flight option with budget airlines and I also use the same car hire Geneva Airport company and book accommodation in the same area. I think it will be fun to have the kids with us this time as we are usually on our own so it will be nice to mix things up. It will mean we wont be able to stay out as late but I’m sure their presence will more than make up for that.

Being away from home is something I find quite stressful. Not all the time of course but there are certainly days when it can be tough going. You miss your home comforts and family and you just don’t feel right. I remember once being over 500 miles from home and just throwing in the towel, getting a one way car hire service and heading home. Family are a great back up when your day is not going so well. They are there to listen to your problems and offer advice on whatever you are going through.

You miss this safety blanket when you are away. You can try to make your new surroundings as homely as possible but its just not the same. No matter how luxurious the lodgings, well, it just doesn’t cut it when you are having an off day. Sometimes you feel like just leaving in the middle of the night and thinking of an excuse for your bosses the next day. Just get yourself over to a car hire company and hit the road home..but bills must be paid and I am supposed to be a responsible adult so I got to be strong and wait for a better day.

Rugby is something which is very important to me. Its a game I love and I go to see as many games as I possibly can.  I started playing as a kid in school and my love for the game has just grown and grown from there. It helps that my dad was also a big fan. At weekends he used to take me to various club matches as well as big international games.

The World Cup is currently taking place in South Africa and has now reached the quarter final stage. I’m hoping to get over there for some games but its a bit up in the air at the moment. I think I can get flights sorted and I have a car hire Johannesburg Airport deal available to me but I’m still worried about match tickets.

Its hard sitting here watching it on TV when you really want to be there. The time difference means that there are some very early morning kick offs here in Europe which means that you really do miss the big game atmosphere. Its hard to get too excited at 6 in the morning when you are still struggling to wake up.

I was looking into hotels last night and there still seems to be a few options as well as plenty of decent car hire South Africa deals. Fingers crossed I make it.

Becoming a parent is fantastic but boy does it really take over your life. I spend all my time running around looking for many of the various and multiple items needed when I’m not at home on proud dad duty. From many items I have never heard of before to popular stuff such as Baby Walkers or  a Baby Jogger I have been searching for them all.

Running around the city to local stores looking for an exact model that my wife has asked for can be time consuming and very frustrating. “You just have it in black?”, “OK let me make a quick call” – “I see, so it must be in red but why”  “It just has to be” – I see………and so on.  This is why I think shopping online is so much easier.

You might have to do a bit of searching but there are so many stores online that you have an excellent chance of finding what you want. All kinds of stuff is stocked from buggy boards to bouncers to designer baby clothes (hey, maybe you are planning on grooming your kid for super stardom).

Now I just need an online Nannie and everything will be sorted…now that may be a bit more difficult
